Description

Satan is at it again! As a professional gambler, Satan approached you and offered you the card game of your life. Of course, you had to accept. You quickly learn, however, that Satan’s card game also involves guns, bombs, and poison. You must slaughter as many of Satan’s demons as you can before you succumb to death to cause him as much harm as you can.

It is probably obvious, but the genres we mixed were card game and top-down shooter.

Controls

WASD - Move your character. There are two move modes that can be selected from the menu.

Mouse - Aim your weapon.

Click - Activate the selected weapon.

ESC - Bring up the in-game menu.

1-4 - Activate the selected card

Card Types

Health - Heals you

Pistol - Single shot per click with a delay

SMG - Auto fire, hold the mouse button down

Bomb - Self-explanatory, but be careful about the distance. It will hurt you too!

Poison - Creates a poison cloud that stays for a while

A health card activates automatically when selected and is then discarded. Bomb and poison cards are single-use. Once used they are discarded. SMG and Pistol are timed cards. However, all cards, including bomb and poison, are discarded five seconds after activation.

Enemies are divided into waves and get harder with each wave.

We hope you enjoy playing this game as much as we have enjoyed making it.

The work was divided up as follows

James - Coding, Scripting, and 1 graphic!

Anthony - Most graphics and particle systems

Cameron - Remaining graphics, Sound FX, and Music

Tools Used

  • Unity 2017.3.1f1

  • Gimp

  • Bosca Ceoil

  • Bfxr

Notes about the WebGL Version

Please note: We have come to notice that the sound fx seem harsher and louder in the WebGL version than in a standalone. We did nothing different and this is likely due to either the Unity Web Engine or the browser. Before starting a WebGL game, we highly recommend reducing the volume on the sound fx to about half. Thanks!

Description

Blast your way through goopy aliens and moldy hamburgers as you fight for cleanliness. Beware the goop and slime that your enemies will throw at you to slow you down. The more gunk on your ship, the harder it will be to move!

We had a late start by 24 hours as I had a conflict on Friday through Saturday afternoon, but we did finish!

Controls:

WASD or arrows to move

Left Control or space to shoot

Hints:

Collect Goop-B-Gone to remove goop.

Don’t collide with the enemies.

Please note that if you play the WebGL version, please play it in full screen. It did not scale well to the smaller window.

The work was divided up as follows:

James - Coding and Scripting

Anthony - All graphics

Cameron - Sound and Music

CryOS

JAM GAME by James Dunlap (@james-dunlap)Anthony Dunlap (@anthony-dunlap), and Cameron Dunlap (@cameron-dunlap)

The crew of a colony ship lands on a foreign planet, but (inconveniently) have very limited power routed to their pods and cannot be retrieved from cryogenic sleep. You control the Colony Construction Robot (CCR) with the task of maintaining power to the ship as well as creating a suitable home in the not-so-hospitable conditions of the planet. The question remains, though, if the CCR and Cryogenic Operating System (CryOS) want the colonists to be revived…

Builds

See below for links to the builds.

Advanced warning that the Linux build has not been tested. The Mac one may require you to change some security settings on your Mac. Also, please note that the WebGL version differs slightly as you cannot multi-thread in WebGL, so the game may lag slightly when pathfinding.

Tips

Read the messages provided by the game. First, build solar panels to slow down the loss of power. The first mine to be built should be a silicon mine. Stabilize first, then start to grow. Remember, mines MUST be powered to work.

Goal

You must build certain items to complete the game. These can be checked by clicking the Check Colony button on the screen. Also, the ship’s battery can not be losing power.

Tools Used

  • Unity 5.6.0f3
  • Bfxr for creating sound effects
  • GIMP 2 for image editing
  • Bosca Ceoil

Contributors

For posterity sake, this game was developed completely in 72 hours by myself and my two sons. We each contributed the following items:

  • James: Most coding, some UI development
  • Anthony: Coding, most UI development
  • Cameron: Art, music, and sound effects

We hope you enjoy our second entry into the Ludum Dare game jam as much as we enjoyed making it.

Suds of War

JAM GAME by James Dunlap (@james-dunlap)Anthony Dunlap (@anthony-dunlap), and Cameron Dunlap (@cameron-dunlap)

Have you ever played with toy boats in your bathtub? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a REAL naval war?

If you answered yes to one, both, or maybe none of these questions, then this is the game for you !

In Suds of War, you control plastic boats in a war to dominate the bathtub. Destroy enemy ships and attack the enemy base (a sponge). Rubber ducks block your way to victory, so go around them.

You start the game with three ships, try to hold on to them. If for some reason all three cannot be placed, the unplaceable ships will be available for immediate spawning, but you can only spawn next to your base.

Advanced warning that the Linux build has not been tested. Also, the Mac one required me to change some security settings on my MacBook. If you know how to fix this, please let me know! (It complained that it was downloaded from Dropbox. I have it set to allow me to run programs that are not from the App Store.)

Controls

Left-Click to select or deselect a ship Right-Click after selecting to attack or move

Tips

At the bottom of the screen is an end turn button and the status of your ships.

Click the ship icon to respawn a ship. Ships have a cooldown timer that is displayed on the button. The more ships you have down, the longer it takes them to respawn.

Goal

Your goal is to destroy the enemy sponge before the enemy ships destroy your sponge.

Tools Used

  • Unity 5.6.0f3
  • Blender for 3D modeling and some rendering of GUI elements
  • Bfxr for creating sound effects
  • GIMP 2 for image editing
  • Audacity for editing audio files
  • LMMS for creating music
